Featured Producer: Quaranta


90 years is a long time to be making candy. But that’s just how long Quaranta has been producing superior quality artisanal nougat in the heart of Caravaggio, a small town just outside of Milan. In 1924 at the age of 15, Antonio Quaranta created his first recipe. A recipe for almond soft nougat that is still followed today!



Fast forward to present day, Quaranta as a company has grown from being sold at simple food stands to being displayed in Prince Charles of England’s shop inside the royal residence and gracing the window displays of Dolce & Gabanna. The story of their journey is a fascinating one if you are so inclined to read it.



Quaranta, on its 3rd generation of Quaranta sons who run the company, now produce more than a simple nougat. They produce nougat cakes, bars, brittle and caramelized nuts among other things. In fact, they were the first to introduce a nougat cake to the market back in 1990. In fact, they produce 160,000 of these each year (along with 5 million nougat bars!).
